42BELOW Scouts Best NZ’s Best Bartenders

42BELOW is scouting out three of New Zealand’s hottest bartenders – and they’re set to be in Christchurch this Sunday! The picks of the bunch will represent our awesome nation in the iconic 42BELOW Cocktail World Cup (CWC). Those making the cut could indeed be ‘world-famous in New Zealand’ and perhaps even beyond.

With a record number of entries up and down the country, the standard is going to be higher, and the competition fiercer, than ever. This year’s theme is ‘Lab Experiment’ – where three ‘mixologists’ are determined to push the boundaries of great drinks with a cocktail concoction never seen before.

The regional heats have already covered Auckland, Tauranga, Napier and Wellington, with Christchurch and Queenstown still to tick off the list. The events will showcase up to eight of the best bartenders from that region.

  • Sunday 22July: Christchurch – Cargo starting 5:30 pm

  • Tuesday 24July: Queenstown – World Bar starting 7pm

Entry is free and the first 42 people through the door will receive two delicious 42BELOW cocktails. There will also be entertainment, drinks specials and spot prizes on the night. It promises to be a spectacular show as the bartenders battle it out, with just seven minutes to mix and serve their creation to a panel of industry heavyweights.

The New Zealand final will be held on Sunday 29 July at The Front Room in Wellington. The winning bartenders will become ‘Team New Zealand’ and take part in the 42BELOW Cocktail World Cup ‘Lab Experiment’ kicking off in Queenstown on 3 September.

You must be over 18 years to attend any of the 42BELOW regional events: for more details, visit the 42BELOW Cocktail World Cup Facebook page.
