The First Few Shops at The Tannery

A boutique shopping space has popped up at The Tannery. In the coming months, a brand-new boutique retail and arts emporium will open on the site (behind The Brewery at 3 Garlands Road in Woolston), but until then you can get a taste of The Tannery in a collection of pop-up shops situated in the car park. Six containers are grouped under a sail: within them are six much-loved Christchurch retailers – Dead Set, Flock Design Boutique, Smith’s Books, Redfish Bluefish, Where the Fox Lives and Toi Toi Design Store. The set up evokes Christchurch’s pioneering days – but with much cooler things to buy.

Says Alasdair Cassels, owner of The Tannery: “We’re excited about giving Christchurch and the eastern suburbs a peek at what The Tannery retail experience will be like: high quality, built on tradition and heritage, different and exciting. We’re pleased our partner tenants are pioneering this new experience with such innovation and energy.”

Gifts, streetwise fashion, books … head to The Tannery for your Christmas shopping and you can reward yourself with a cold beer at The Brewery afterwards.

Trading hours from today will be: weekdays 11am – 7pm, weekends 11am – 5pm

When the Emporium at The Tannery does fully open, retailers will include: Gastronomy; The Sows Ear; The Tea Rooms; The Woolston Vinters and Providore Co.; Mitchelli’s Café; Aromaunga Flowers; Smith’s Bookshop; Flock Design Boutique; Dead Set Clothing; Dual Clothing; Where The Fox Lives; Toi Toi Design Store; Magma Gallery Contemporary New Zealand Jewellery; Absolution; Magma Picture Framing; and The Brewery.
